Artemis & Apollo

I love thrift shopping! And when I saw this dresser at the local goodwill for $10.00 I had to have it. It has 9 drawers which can hold ALOT of stuff. So after I bought it and had my hubby lug it home for me :). Thanks hunny! I got to work.

Before

First I removed the hardware and set them aside for later, the next step was to sand the entire dresser. I then used CIL Realife Paint (which is a one coat application it has paint and primer in one) to paint the piece. This dresser took three coats of paint to get the proper coverage. I then took the old hardware and spray painted it white and attached them back on once the paint had dried. Take a look at the finished piece, I think it turned out pretty good! So for 10 bucks and a bit of elbow grease I have an awesome dresser to put my many things in.

You too can do this DIY project.

Before and After – Kitchen

We moved into our dream home almost two years ago now and one of the first things we wanted to change was the kitchen. We didn’t want to do a whole kitchen remodel, as the bones and layout of the room were fine. So to change the room and make it suit our needs and style I decided to grab my paintbrush and get to work. By painting the walls the cupboards and backsplash with CIL Realife Paint, changing out the hardware, changing out the window treatments and adding in the bar stools as well as the island (which was a gift from my parents) we were able to completely change the look of our kitchen. For approximately $250.00 (not including the island which was $699.00 from ikea) our kitchen went from drab and boring to modern, hip, clean and fresh…exactly what we were looking for!

BEFORE
AFTER

I purchased the clear acrylic bar stools from Bouclair.  However the first store that I went to only had one stool.  So the helpful sales lady called another store for me and all they had left was the floor model, so they set it aside for me and when I went to pick it up and got it for HALF PRICE!!  What a great deal!

I made the curtains out of fabric I purchased from one of my favorite stores….IKEA.  It was an excellent price, I think it was only about $5.00 a metre at most.

Next on the kitchen redo list will be the lighting…so stay tuned 🙂
