DIY Armoire/Dresser Makeover

I love taking old pieces and breathing new life onto them. My parents decided to do a bit of editing in their home and one of the items they were going to get rid of was this....Now here is where I would have inserted said image had I not been in such a haste to paint it that I forgot to take the before pic... oops :). Anyway, before the makeover the dresser was painted with an outdoor scene on it, which was beautiful but just not my style...not yet anyway.

I wanted to give this piece a distressed look so I sanded down the entire outside, as much as I could at least (there was a lot of paint on it). I then painted it with Benjamin Moore Aura paint in a semi-gloss finish- no priming involved as Aura paint is a paint and primer in one. This piece took about 4 coats to cover. After the paint had completely dried I took my hand sander and got to work sanding down various spots to give the worn distressed vintage look. In fact some of the old colour can be seen in the sanded down area on the corners which I think just adds to the look. I then added various vintage handle pulls to finish off the look.

The Monday Blues - N°6

Happy Monday!

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend, and I hope that it was filled with fun and excitment to help you get through yet another work week. Whoever decided to make the work week 5 days and the weekend only 2 days had it all wrong. Of course folks it could be worse, you could either not have a job at all, or have to work 7 days a week, so I guess I will be happy with what we have. So anyway...to help you get through the first day back, I have pulled together some art of blue. The two artists featured today are very different, but beautiful all the same. I hope you like.

House Gawking: Apartment in São Paulo, Brazil

Happy Sunday Everyone!

The weekend is almost over but I plan to soak in every bit of this day in a relaxed state of mind. Hope that your last day of the weekend is enjoyable and if you are reading this post, I am happy to be spending it with you:-)

Today's house gawking post is taking us to the vibrant country of Brazil.....known for their carnival, beautiful women, beaches and an undying love for football!!!! This gorgeous apartment located in São Paulo [the most populous city in Brazil] exudes modern sophistication with "an air of cosmopolitan art gallery". Enjoy!!

I hope everyone has had a great week and is ready for whatever the weekend brings them.

This week was a short work week here in Ontario, due to family day being on Monday, but just because it was a short week doesn't mean that it was not event filled. With family, friends, work, appointment, blogging, shopping at our favourite fabric store (check out some of our finds on our Instagram images), we are always short on time. Fashion Photographs With A Twist!

Good News Everyone [said in the voice of the Professor Farnsworth from the awesome hit show Futurama]!!!! Its Friday :-) And with every Friday we bring to you fashion related posts, because we all want to get dressed up and go partying on the weekends!!! But what usually happens......is that we stay in with a good book or watch all the television shows we missed that week....(hopefully I am not the only one doing this :-s )

Okay enough of my rambling :-)....the images you see in today's fashion post are just about the coolest things I've seen in a very long time....PHOTOGRAPHS THAT MOVE right before your eyes!!!!
